Thematic Program Office (TPO) – Driving Global Sustainability Research
At the heart of the Belmont Forum’s Collaborative Research Actions (CRAs), the Thematic Program Office (TPO) drives the design and delivery of impactful, cross-border research collaborations.
From shaping international calls for proposals to ensuring the scientific rigor of project reviews, the TPO works side-by-side with the Group of Program Coordinators (GPC) and the Belmont Forum Secretariat to connect global research resources and foster transformative partnerships.
What We Do
Taiwan’s Milestone Achievements
Thanks to the joint efforts of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), the TPO, and leading academic experts, Taiwan proudly hosts two CRA Thematic Program Offices under the Belmont Forum:
-
DR3 2019 – Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience
-
SSCP 2022 – Systems of Sustainable Consumption and Production
Since 2023, Taiwan’s TPO has also partnered with the French National Research Agency (ANR/FERPA) to co-lead the Resilience CRA (Managing Vulnerability and Resilience of Socio-Environmental Systems in Affected Regions).

Our Mission:
To be a bridge between science and society, turning collaborative research into real-world sustainability solutions.
To advance the implementation of its initiatives, the Belmont Forum Program Office (BFPO) organized multiple sessions during the Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress in 2023, 2024, and 2025 (SRI2023, SRI2024, and SRI2025).
