Background:
Environmental Peacebuilding (#EPB) is the act of reducing tensions between
groups and/or aiding those re-emerging from devastation or conflict through
the management of environmental resources. It requires a transdisciplinary
approach to understand the environmental system, the relationship of one or
more groups to that system, and direct interaction and engagement of the group
members in the development of pathways forward. The term environment is
used here in its broadest sense to apply to urbanized, developing, and natural
environments in both conflict areas and pre-/post-conflict zones and all the
elements within those environments. Because of this broadness of definition,
environmental peacebuilding encompasses a wide array of use cases from
human-wildlife conflict in conservation areas to water management strategies
in mountain communities, environmental justice actions in low income
neighborhoods, and post-war redevelopment planning.
Questions that we will discuss during our meeting include:
What are the critical questions or gaps in knowledge that need to be addressed to develop and execute effective Environmental Peace Building strategies?
What themes or topics should be included as part of an EBP call?
What kinds of funding structures should we be considering as we develop a proposal in this space?
What the network develop requirements or challenges of working in this space?
What is the best mechanism to put in place to reach the goals of Transdisciplinary Research for EPB?
Is your organization interested in participating in Transdisciplinary Research for EPB?

If you have any question, please feel free to contact us.
